Pręgierz - osioł dla żołnierzy toruńskich w dzisiejszej formie jest nawiązaniem do historycznego pręgierza, który stał u zbiegu ul. Żeglarskiej i Szerokiej przy odwachu.

Pokuta była podwójna: skazany był narażony na pośmiewisko gawiedzi, a ostry grzbiet pręgierza wbijał mu się w siedzenie.
Oryginalny osioł stał w tym miejscu do 1797 r.
