Położona w północno-zachodnich krańcach Torunia Barbarka jest ponad 700-letnią leśną osadą o bogatej historii i ciekawych obiektach. Barbarka łączy w sobie atrakcje historyczne z rekreacyjnymi i ekologicznymi.
W średniowieczu Barbarka była miejscem kultu św. Barbary (która wg legendy objawić się miała pustelnikowi), a do miejscowej kaplicy i gotyckiej figury św. Barbary pielgrzymował m.in. sam król Zygmunt Stary w 1521 r. Przez kilka wieków działał tu też młyn. W okresie II wojny światowej Barbarka stała się świadkiem licznych egzekucji wykonywanych na inteligencji toruńskiej przez Niemców.
Obecnie jest dużym, ciekawym i bogato zagospodarowanym miejscem rekreacji malowniczo położonym wśród lasów, nad stawem.
